How do I update my contact information in mChip.org?
Keeping your contact information current is the single most important thing a microchip registration does — a scanner can only reach you if the record is accurate.[1]
How do I update my information?
Sign in to your mChip.org account, open the microchip's record, and edit your phone number, email, or mailing address directly. Save the change and it takes effect immediately.
What should I update after moving or changing my phone number?
Update both your phone number and mailing address as soon as they change, and double check your email address is one you still check regularly. All three are used to reach you if a chip is scanned.
Do I need to update anything if I change my pet's name?
No — the microchip ID is tied to the pet, not the name on file, but you're welcome to update the pet's name in the record for your own reference.
What if I no longer have the pet?
If you've transferred or rehomed the pet, use a transfer rather than deleting the record — see the article on transferring registration for how that works.
